Being present ...

Do you ever take time to just sit and be still in your own house? Last night after dinner I sat in the front room in my cozy little spot and just took in everything around me. I noticed the little details that in most days go unnoticed. It was calming the way the sun traveled across the wall and found itself highlighting a few of my favorite (and a few forgotten) things. Shadows grew, transformed and faded, and things seemed to change colors as the light moved across the room from left to right. As the sun grew closer to setting, the room warmed with a warm faint orange hue. I don’t think in the eight years since we built our home, have I observed these subtle changes inside at dusk.

The peaceful stillness was perfect and relaxing.

It was a nice way to wind down after a long day and a great comfort food filled dinner. (Rosemary encrusted pork tenderloin, garlic smashed potatoes and roasted asparagus!) I highly suggest being present in your own space. In fact … I’m going to make a habit of it!
